Hi, I’m Katie!

MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, FMACP

Masters in nursing, integrative family nurse practitioner, functional medicine certified practitioner

As a healthcare professional, my primary role involves creating a comprehensive roadmap for my patients' wellness journey, starting from identifying the root cause of their symptoms to setting achievable health goals. In our initial consultation, we extensively review the patient's health history to understand their unique needs and aspirations better.

MY APPROACH

To provide the most effective support, I incorporate lifestyle management strategies, routine blood tests, and specialty testing as needed. These tools allow me to gather valuable insights into a patient’s current health status and potential risk factors.

By synthesizing this information, I create personalized treatment plans that are both practical and effective. My approach is rooted in the philosophy of "Nutrition as Medicine," recognizing the profound impact dietary habits have on overall health and well-being.

I find immense joy in walking alongside my patients on their health journey, offering the guidance and support they need every step of the way. My ultimate goal is to empower individuals to take charge of their health, inspiring sustainable lifestyle changes that foster long-term wellness.

MY JOURNEY TO TODAY

Katie Hendon’s journey in healthcare, coupled with her experience with her mother’s illness, fueled her determination to provide compassionate and empathetic care to her patients. She’s a dynamic provider with an extensive nursing career that spans many facets of healthcare. Her mission is to partner with clients on their wellness journey, actively understanding each patient’s unique story.

Katie’s educational training began at Indiana University where she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science. She then earned an Associates of Nursing degree from Columbia State in 2014 and had been a nurse for 7 years when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. While advocating for her mother on her cancer journey, Katie’s dissatisfaction with the lack of empathy her mother received inspired her to pursue further education and become a Nurse Practitioner.

Katie finished her master’s degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2021 and became a Family Nurse Practitioner determined to take care of her clients with dignity, respect, and compassion, regardless of their medical condition. She possesses a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of patient care and brings that to every patient she sees.

Katie’s healthcare experience in both hospital and clinical settings includes working at Williamson Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, Medical/ Surgical, and ICU. Additionally, Katie was a part of Vanderbilt Medical Adult Hospital where she cared for patients in ER, CCU, Hematology, Oncology, Burn, Neurology, and Trauma.

In 2024, Katie completed her studies at the Functional Medicine Academy where she was certified as a Functional Medicine Practitioner.

As owner of Hendon Wellness, Katie ensures that her patients receive personalized care plans tailored to their specific needs and goals. She can play a key role in educating and empowering patients to actively participate in their healthcare decisions and provide them with a wide array of health and wellness strategies. Katie’s dedication to providing empathetic and patient-centered care makes a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

Katie is married with two boys, and she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending baseball games, working out, and hanging with her dog Banjo.
